The combined membership at the time of EMEC's dedication was approximately 100,000, a figure that has grown has grown from 0 in 2003.

The combined groups originate from a number of the DRC's regions, including the troubled North and South Kivu provinces in the east and Uvira further to the south. The largest group, named Hope of Glory, is centered around the inland city of Mbuji-Mayi. Closer to the capital city of Kinshasa, the CEBN group, has focused on bringing the good news of Jesus to the Bateke Plateau area.

More than 500 people attended the ceremony, including political and religious leaders from the DRC, local tribal chiefs, and foreign visitors. The two bishops ordained at the October ceremony were Rev. Freddy Mukendi of Hope of Glory and Rev. Isaac Luaba of CEBN.
