Testimony: A Christian Leader Shares More Readily
My name is Rose, a trainer with the VCP program. Before joining VCP, I was only able to do hospital and prison ministry. I could never imagine becoming involved in church planting. Although I was able to evengelize nearly anyone, I could not do it with Muslims. I was too afraid and did not even know how to approach them.
But today, with the teaching that I have received with the VCP program, I am no longer afraid to share the love of Jesus with anyone. I am training many others in discipleship relationships. As a result of my release to approach anyone about the Gospel, 216 Muslims have made a decision for Christ and 44 of them have been baptized. Praise God.
Testimony: A Witchdoctor Becomes a Church Father
Mr. Nicholo and his mother, who are today known as Christians, were once renowned witchdoctors in their region.
One day, as they were in the field cultivating, their house caught fire and all their belongings got destroyed. Two weeks later after the incident the VCP church planter visited their village and went straight to their place and shared with the grieving family about the Lord Jesus. The family accepted the message and gave their lives to Jesus. A church was initiated in the village. The family become a Family of Peace, ”OIKOS.”
Because this was a witchdoctor family, the village opposed them in their newfound faith. The other villagers tried to force them back into their old ways and give up on the Christian faith. Glory be to God that the family resisted the opposition, as they had really committed their lives to Jesus.
After three days in their home sleeping on the floor, enjoying their hospitality and sharing the Good news with them, the VCP trainer took them to the river and baptized 12 persons. A Christian church was born in Beko Village.
We must emphasize that the church initiated in Beko has grown to be a big community, and it is surprising to note that the founding father of this church used to be a witchdoctor who gave up on fetishes and committed his life to God. The whole village, witnessing the change in Mr. Nicholo's life, has gone through a great transformation and many are now following God.
Testimony: A Church Planted in a Day
After identifying the village Doele as a potential place for church planting, the VCP trainer named Piar explains what transpired...
Before going to this village I was told that its inhabitants lived in fear of the criminal activities in which different gangs engaged. Also, I discovered that there was no church in that village.
When I arrived in Doele I met a lady who happened to be the local chief. I introduced myself to her and shared with her my intentions for her village. She was amazed and called for her spokesperson, requesting him to call the whole village together. She asked him to announce that God had finally sent His servant to the village and the villagers should come to hear his good news.
A few minutes later, the village had surrounded me with anticipation to hear what I had to tell them. I preached the Word of God, and those who accepted the message stood up to testify that they gave their lives to Jesus. Eighty adults and more than 30 children stood up that day.
The chief, who was my Person of Peace, decided immediately to give me a plot of land on which to erect a church building. She handed me a sickle to mark the width and length of the land that I wanted. Things happened so quickly that I couldn’t believe that a church had been planted in one day.
We decided to build a church building 12 meters long and 7,50 meters in width to accommodate the new congregation. We started preparing the land during the three additional days I spent there, and baptized 54 peoples. Among them was the village chief. Later, a second generation church was initiated in the neighboring village.
I must say that the planting of the church in Doele brought transformation in the lives of its inhabitants. The people of Doele now fear God. Their boys and girls are no longer living promiscuous lives involving drugs, alcohol, and even fetishes. Criminal activities have stopped and people no longer live in fear. Church members enjoy God’s protection and go about their business and serve God with zeal and joy.
