One Mission Society (known as The Oriental Missionary Society until February 1973 and more recently as OMS International) was founded as a faith mission in Japan in February 1901 by the late Rev. and Mrs. Charles E. Cowman.
OMS is a non-denominational missionary organization, and has ministries in Asia, Europe, South and Central America, and Africa.

The Into Africa Project was adopted as a Centennial project of One Mission Society (OMS) in 2001 to intensify the ministries of the organization in Africa. This is a ministry deeply grounded in prayer. And God has shown himself powerfully and faithfully through the work of the Holy Spirit in even the most challenging of circumstances.

The flagship outreach of Into Africa is the Village Church Planting (VCP) program, which is inspired by Matthew 9:35-38:
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
It is the intentional aim of the Village Church Planting program to focus OMS ministries primarily on the unreached villages of Africa, developing training centers for church planter pastors in strategic unreached rural areas; and through these training centers, to mobilize the sons and daughters of Africa to initiate Village Church Planting Movements.
