The strategic distribution of Bibles plays a fundamental role in initiating and developing new churches. A Bible in Africa can vary in price from US $6 to US $12, plus delivery costs. To many Africans living on the breadline, a Bible is an unaffordable luxury. Careful placement of Bibles reveals their true worth and encourages villagers to pool resources in acquiring this treasure.
Receiving Bibles in Great Lakes Region
During 2010, the Into Africa Project placed $15,000 worth of Bibles (approximately 1,500 copies) into the hands of key church leaders. These Bibles are primarily used for the following purposes:
- To establish reading groups in which members read to their non-literate neighbors
- By pastors, elders and Sunday School leaders
- To conduct Bible studies
