Roger Ouedraogo is the Into Africa Project coordinator for Burkina Faso. He was born in the Capital city of Ouagadougou, and is married to Adele Flora Ouedraogo. The couple has two children. Roger has a diploma in missiology from Institut Missiologique de Sahel in Ouagadougou. He has attended a number of seminars for which has received certificates.
He is fluent in Moore and French, has some proficiency in Dioula, and is learning English. "At an early age God gave me the grace to know Him and desire to serve Him," recounts Roger. His first involvement in ministry was with children, and then with schools by organizing Bible studies in various schools. Later, "God confirmed His calling in my life
by giving me a burden for unreached groups, in particular Muslim peoples."
After completing his studies at Institut Missiologique de Sahel, Roger and wife followed the leading of the Holy Spirit and moved to an Islamic and animist region. Before our relocation to the region, the area was called the "graveyard of ministry." No ministry had ever survived in that region before. Our first target was the rural areas.
"What helped me most as we began our ministry was the training that I received from a missionary named David Watson and brother Younoussa Djao from Cote d'Ivoire. My goal is to reach out to all 8,000 villages in Burkina Fasso with the Good News of Jesus."
The ministry in Burkina Fasso started in July 2007, and by God's grace had managed to grow to 1,130 believers in 72 churches by September 2008. The outreach is centered around five VCP training centers. The languages spoken at the centers are Bamaou, Djema, Bobo, Moore, Gouen and Dioula. See above for recent country statistics.
